Prosjektets problemstillinger
Sykdom og komplikasjoner under svangerskap, fødsel og i nyfødtperioden (det som til sammen kalles perinatalperioden) kan ha betydelig konsekvenser for helse og funksjonsnivå senere i livet. Det er imidlertid svært lite kunnskap om hvordan komplikasjoner i perinatal perioden påvirker helse og funksjonsnivå i barne- ungdoms- og voksen alder.
Ved hjelp av en prospektiv registerbasert kohortstudie der opplysninger fra Medisinsk Fødselsregister kobles til opplysninger om sykdomstilstander, lære- og atferdsvansker og funksjonsnivå senere i livet fra andre nasjonale registre vil vi kunne få informasjon om dette. Ved bruk av de nasjonale registrene er vi i Norge i en unik stilling til å kunne besvare disse spørsmålene.
Prosjektets mål / nytteverdi
Formål med studien: Få kunnskap om hvilke faktorer rundt svangerskap, fødsel og nyfødtperiode som gir økt risiko for senskader for å kunne sette inn målrettete tiltak mot disse.
Metode
Registerepidemiologisk forskningsprosjekt. Opplysninger fra Medisinsk fødselsregister, Dødsårsaksregistret, Norsk pasientregister, Nav og Statistisk sentralbyrå nyttes i nasjonale prospektive undersøkelser for å søke å besvare medisinske problemstillinger.
